About Verbier
Located in the canton of Valais in Switzerland, the ski resort of Verbier is located at 1500 meters altitude in a beautiful landscape and sunny. The village, which is located just below the station, is typical of a swiss village with many wooden chalets. Verbier is especially appreciated by the lovers of freeride, who find a field of game grand.
With its ski area is very extensive, and its high rate of snow from November to April, Verbier is the place of many events, festivals and other competitions, such as the Xtrem, which sees each year confront of competitors from the elite world of freeride skiing and snowboarding, on the slopes of the Bec des Rosses, or the Patrouille des Glaciers. The station is one of the access gates from the ski area of 4 Valleys which has 412 kilometres of ski runs, 82 lifts. The ski area of Verbier is composed of 195 km of ski pistes and 34 ski lifts divided into three areas, all accessible with the lift pass in Verbier. The summit of the Mont-Gelé (3023 m) is the starting point for beautiful ski routes off-piste, known throughout the world. The Mont-fort is the highest point in the region, at 3330 metres above sea level. A black trail allows you to come back down after admiring the wonderful panorama.
Cross-country skiers will also find their happiness in Verbier, even for hikers on foot or on skis. You can also enjoy the heli-skiing, snowshoeing, and paragliding. A track-long toboggan run ten kilometres allows young and old alike to spend pleasant moments. A snow park suitable for all levels and secure, just complete the offer of sports in the open air of the station.
In case of bad weather, or simply by curiosity, the resort and village offer cultural activities and indoor sports. Thus, on the station, you can visit the alpine museum and many art galleries, relax at the indoor pool or the sauna and enjoy massages. Verbier is a ski resort very lively day and night, with many shops, bars, tearooms, restaurants, cinemas and nightclubs.
In the village, one can visit the museum of Hamlet or go on the site of the Odeon and admire its sun-dial. We will not miss the Chapel of All Saints was built in the Seventeenth century and is the home of very beautiful organs.
