About Axalp
Axalp is a small, family-friendly ski area perched on a terrace above Lake Brienz in the Bernese Oberland. You can reach it from Brienz by postbus or by car. The slopes range in elevation from 1,400 to 2,000 meters, offering magnificent views of the turquoise lake and the surrounding mountains.
A three-seat chairlift leads to Windegg, complemented by three T-bar lifts and two children’s lifts. The wide, carefully groomed runs are mostly blue, making this an ideal ski area for families and skiers who enjoy a leisurely carve away from the crowds. One red run, one black run, and two ungroomed trails round out the offerings. Younger skiers have their own area, Axiland, and the Axalp Ski School offers lessons for all skill levels. The ski area also offers night skiing.
Off the slopes, Axalp is ideal for sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and winter hiking.
Good to know: One-day and multi-day passes are valid starting at 3 p.m. the day before. With the Magic Pass, the Brienz–Axalp bus is included during the winter. For the 2026–27 season, the ski area is open from December 19, 2026, to March 29, 2027.
